Law of Equivalent Exchange
The law of equivalent exchange is a principle that states, "to obtain something, something of equal value must be lost".
Within the past few months a big challenge I’ve been wrestling with is the isolation of community college. It’s no secret that one of the biggest drawbacks of community college is the lack of the traditional social experience. I’m very much an extroverted person and not being around people was a big challenge for me. I struggled with short waves of depression being isolated in my room for days at a time. I even started driving for hours and catching flights just to see friends, hoping to gain a bit of my joy back.
But one thing I’ve realized as of late, is that in my season of isolation I have grown an immense amount, primarily in my career. As I’m writing this article, I received two job opportunities today that I got because of my social media work these past few months. One was a UGC offer for an AI service known as MathGPT, which I applied for. The other was an offer to be a script writer for another AI service called Trueplace, who’s Co-founder actually reached out to me because of my Linkedin page (I should totally write an article on that). Combining this with my pre-existing Turbo AI and Spideytalks Tiktok account, I can make around 2-3k a month, all while on a flexible, remote, part time schedule.
The fact that this is even possible blows my mind, when only a month ago I was slaving away at my part time job at Panda Express, which was exhausting. I was only bringing in around 1k per month working there. Now you’re telling me I can make 2-3x my income doing something I love? God is so good.
I celebrated my success today by hopping on a call with my girlfriend Sophia. During that call, she made me realize something tremendous. I wouldn't be able to achieve this level of success in my social media career, if it weren’t for community college. I’m positive if I went down the traditional college route, the outings with friends, the stricter schedule, the harder classes, would’ve eaten up all my free time. But thanks to the flexibility and isolation of community college, I am now able to work my dream job and make a very respectable income at only 18 years of age.
Today I realized I truly saw the law of equivalent exchange in action. Despite my loneliness, I am extremely grateful for the position I am in now. The opportunities I have received in my career recently have been amazing, and I am so excited to see what the future has in store for me moving forward.
